Artist Statement
I started working with stained glass, gold and silver in college in the mid 1980's, and majored in jewelry design. I enjoyed working with metal and stained glass for several years. Then I took a glass fusing and slumping class and became fascinated with the effects of fusing multiple pieces of glass together. In August of 2004 I taught myself lampworking, (glass bead making).
I enjoy creating beautiful jewelry out of all different elements: glass, wood, paper, gold, silver and clay. I love creating beautiful things for myself, and for other people to enjoy and wear.
In the spring of 2006 I learned silk painting and have added hand painted silk scarves to my jewelry business and website. I loving painting the silks, it is fun and fascinating. My next silk projects are neck ties and skirts, coming in the near future.
A little history about myself: My husband Rick and I have made our home in Bradenton, Florida for the past 13 years, and we love it here. We have 2 children, a son and a daughter, grown and married. They, and their wonderful spouses have given us 6 wonderful/beautiful grandchildren, ages 11 to 15. We thoroughly enjoy being grandparents and spoiling them; then sending them home. We, our son, and our two oldest grandchildren, are Scuba Divers. We are having a blast scuba diving with our grandchildren. (Another reason we love living in Florida.)
I also love teaching art. I teach classes in lampwork bead making, silk painting, off-wheel pottery and bead stringing. I spend a lot of time with the grandchildren and their friends teaching them art, and taking them to art museums and galleries.
My husband and I have a very strong faith in Jesus Christ and we believe He is the One Who sustains us and Who has given us the talents to be creative. Rick is a Guitar Builder, go to www.leelutherie.com to see his handmade guitars.
My original designs can also be seen at Lee Shore Gallery. Lee Shore Gallery is owned and operated by myself and my Husband, Rick. It is located in the Village of the Arts, 1023b 12th Street West, Bradenton, Florida, click here to learn more about my Gallery www.leeshoregallery.com.
